VoIP Planning Analysis May 2010

The planning analysis for future VoIP initiatives has been completed and a draft closeout document has been prepared. The IT Network and Client Services proposed pilot implementation project for VoIP in the WDCE relocation to the Cafritz Foundation Art Center has been delayed due to College priorities. This project is anticipated to go to bid in the fall of 2010 with completion expected in late fall of 2011. VoIP implementation is moving forward in the Rockville Science Center project. This implementation will serve as the new pilot and is anticipated to be completed and open in the fall of 2011. Further VoIP initiatives are subject to future analysis and approval by IT management and the availibility of College resources.

VoIP Planning Analysis 3/22/10

This analysis project is progressing through the IT close out process. The process is anticipated to be complete in early April 2010 with the final close out documentation.

VoIP Planning Analysis 2/6/10

FIP met with Client and Network Services, the analysis for strategic direction of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has been completed. FIP is closing out their analysis tasking. Pilot implementations of VoIP are occuring under the WDCE and Rockville Science Center projects. Future reporting on VoIP will be under those project blogs.

VoIP Analysis 1/21/10

FIP met with Telephone Group and confirmed closing out the FIP project analysis task. FIP will work with Telephone Group on implementing VoIP in both the WDCE and R-SC projects. The R-SC project may be first VoIP implementation rather than WDCE due to timing of the projects. The WDCE project design and bid process was not completed in the fall of 2009 by Central Facilities as anticipated, thus start of construction for WDCE will not begin until Summer of 2010 and a VoIP implementation not until late winter 2010 or Spring 2011. VoIP implementation in the R-SC project is anticipated in the fall of 2010. A tentative anticipated timeline for initial VoIP migration activities is;

• Pre-installation planning Spring /Summer 2010
• Installation VoIP in Rockville Science Fall 2010
• Installation VoIP in WDCE at Takoma Park Winter 2010
